Helping to Correct Sleep Apnea & Snoring
Sleep apnea is a condition that disrupts your sleep when your breathing pauses or becomes shallow. These pauses can last for as long as 10 to 30 seconds until your body’s central nervous system reacts to overcome the problem, often signified by a loud snort or choking sound. As this cycle happens repeatedly throughout the night, quality of sleep is poor, resulting in excessive daytime sleepiness.
As a sleep-related breathing disorder, most individuals don’t even realize they have it. However, sleep apnea has been linked to more serious health conditions including diabetes, hypertension, heart disease and mood disorders.
To help our patients manage obstructive sleep apnea and/or snoring, Canmore Dental Clinic is pleased to provide custom-made appliances to be worn during sleep. While these appliances won’t cure apnea and/or snoring, they are a non-surgical option to gradually aid in proper alignment between the jaw, tongue and head, resulting in a more sound sleep.
