I had a bad and horrible experience at other dentists when I was a kid hence I have lots of dental problems that needed to be dealt with and I was referred to Canmore Dental Centre by a friend. I was terrified when I first came to the clinic my hands were clenched almost the whole time but Michelle and Jane who works at the reception are amazing love them! Dr. Wenzel Roxanna Amy and Deneen they are all exceptionally friendly and super nice they even shared some insights and tips on how I can start taking care my teeth. they went through the whole process of making sure I was okay in addition to clearly explaining every part of the process and the actions they were going to perform I feel so comfortable coming to dentist on my second session already they helped my conquer my fear coming to a dentist! Thank you and I’ll definitely recommend everyone I know to come to Canmore Dental Centre!

I had my scheduled Dental and Hygiene exam at Canmore Dental Centre today. The staff were so friendly and very professional. Rozanna was extremely thorough and did an excellent job cleaning my teeth! Dr. Wenzel was friendly paid attention to detail and showed me my X-rays on the screen while explaining what was revealed. They were informative friendly and took the time to answer my questions. The front desk staff were welcoming and very knowledgeable. I have been a patient at Canmore Dental Centre for at least 20 years. Dr. Maier and his staff have always done excellent work. It is so reassuring knowing you are in good hands when putting your dental health wellbeing in the hands of professionals you trust. I highly recommend Canmore Dental Centre!

Great experience at Canmore Dental Centre. Had to get a cavity filled and they did such a great job! I don’t normally write reviews I think this is my first Google review ever so it just goes to show how nice the experience was compared to my last dental clinic. They even showed me pictures of new filling right after they were done so I had a great before/after picture to be confident it all looked good. Would highly recommend!

Always had a fear of dentists till my kids and I started here. Dr Dan and his associates the dental hygienists receptionists are so friendly and warm and immediately put us at ease ( years ago and continue to do so with every visit)and we actually enjoy going there. Deneen was a joy to chat with as she cleaned my teeth today . Highly recommend everyone here who my kids and I have met over the years.

Crown turned out perfectly and Dr.Wentzel and Amy were a pleasure to deal with. The initial freezing was a problem... Apparently a "hot tooth" and they spent nearly 2 hours trying to get it anesthesisted. No luck so 2 weeks later Dr.W tried some other approach which worked. Fitting the final crown was thorough and painless.

Great service at Canmore Dental Centre today. I was early and they got me in early! Staff were all friendly and professional. Dr Maier was great. He answered my questions and regularly checked in that I was doing OK during the procedure. The warm slippers to borrow at the front entrance was a welcome treat.

Our Dentists

Dr Daniel Maier

General Dentist

Dr. Dan, as he’s well-known at Canmore Dental Centre, has been practising dentistry since graduating from the University of Alberta in 1996. He has a genuine, honest approach, and a calm demeanour, and likes to take the time to explain all treatment options. Even the most nervous patients find themselves at ease with the quality of his services and personal care.

Innovations and refinements in technology and procedures are continually introduced in the field of dentistry, and Dr. Dan is committed to continuous learning through advanced education, both for himself and his dental team.

Dr. Dan believes it is a privilege to serve the residents of Canmore and the Bow Valley and believes in giving back to the community both professionally and personally.

When he is not working, Dr. Dan enjoys many activities with his family that Canmore has to offer such as hiking, skiing, fishing, and those warm summer patios with a beautiful mountain view!
Dr Michael Wenzel

General Dentist

Michael's mission at Canmore Dental Centre is for every patient in his chair to feel safe and comfortable, to receive amazing care and to leave with a completely enhanced understanding of their oral health.

After graduating from the University of Alberta in 2014, Michael pursued the advancement of his education in dentistry while also starting a Dental Education YouTube Channel called "Michael the Dentist." At the time of this writing, the channel has over 116 000 subscribers! Michael employs the use of the Dental Microscope for almost all of his dental procedures which allows him to see and work at extremely high magnifications.

When patients so choose, larger than life digital photographs from his microscopes allow them to understand what's going on in their mouth in a way they never have before. During the first 7 years of Michael’s career, he and his wife Natalia lived in Medicine Hat, but couldn’t keep themselves away from Canmore on the weekends. The hikes, culture and breathtaking beauty of Canmore kept Michael (and his trusty camera) coming back time and time again.

Today, Michael is proud to finally be a citizen of this amazing town and is absolutely thrilled to be able to serve his new community through Canmore Dental Centre. When not at the office, Michael loves spending time outdoors with his wife and son.

You’ll almost never see Michael out and about without his Canon camera; getting outside, taking photos and filming videos are Michael’s favourite ways to recharge.
Dr Christian Schumacher

General Dentist

Dr. Schumacher grew up just outside of Edmonton in Sherwood Park, Alberta. He completed a Bachelor of Science degree at University of Alberta before moving to Saskatoon to complete the Doctor of Dental Medicine Program at University of Saskatchewan. Upon completion of his dental degree, Dr. Schumacher returned to U of A to complete the one-year General Practice Residency Program at Kaye Edmonton Clinic and University of Alberta Hospital. Dr. Schumacher enjoys spending his spare time with his family, friends, and wife.

He also likes to dedicate his time to activities that keep him outside such as biking, hiking, skiing, birding, and spending time out on the water. Dr. Schumacher prides himself in making sure that he treats his patients to meet their individualized goals and needs. He looks forward to working with you and your family.
Dr Arden Young

General Dentist

Dr. Young grew up in Edmonton, Alberta, where her grandfather—her first and favourite dentist—inspired her early interest in the field. She earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Alberta in 2010, then moved to Vancouver to complete a General Practice Residency. During this time, she gained valuable experience working in hospitals across Vancouver and abroad.

After several years in private practice in Vancouver, Dr. Young returned to Alberta and settled in Calgary. She spent nine years practicing there, often escaping to the mountains on weekends. Drawn by her love for the outdoors, she made the move to the Bow Valley three years ago and now enjoys living there full-time.

Dr. Young enjoys all aspects of general dentistry and is dedicated to helping patients feel comfortable and at ease in the dental chair. She is passionate about continuing education and has focused much of her advanced training on the art and precision of root canal therapy.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Young embraces mountain life to the fullest. She spends much of her free time trail running in the Bow Valley and, when she’s not running, enjoys reading, skiing, pottery, and spending time with family and friends. She is proud to be part of the Canmore community.
